Nia Sharma from Neha Sharma

India’s most popular television actress and one of the world’s sexiest woman, Nia Sharma’s real name is Neha Sharma. Yes, you read that right. The actress changed her name because she found it to be very common. Speaking about her name change, Nia was quoted saying earlier as “Neha is a very common name but I am someone who is very different. I stand out in a crowd of 200 people. So I thought to call myself Nia. It is different like I am.”

Anita Hassanandani from Natasha Hassanandani

While everyone wishes to have a unique name, it was the other way round in Anita’s case. The actress’ real name is Natasha Hassanandani. However, before making her television debut, she changed her name to Anita as apparently she felt a common name has more chances of being accepted by the audience.

Rashami’s real name is Divya Desai

Rashami Desai rose to fame for her role Tapasya in the hit show ‘Uttaran’. Interestingly, Rashami was earlier named Divya, but she changed her name later. Talking about the same she told TOI, “Yes, I have changed my name from Divya to Rashmi because of numerology. My mother consulted a famous numerologist. I was told that if I change my name to Rashmi immediately, it will spell success for me.”

Gauahar Khan from Gauhar Khan

Gauahar Khan just added an extra ‘a’ in her name. She did so before entering the ‘Bigg Boss’ 7. And she went on to win the show. Now that’s amazing, isn’t it? Ever since her successful stint on the reality show, Gauahar has done quite a few interesting shows and films.

Swwapnil Joshi from Swapnil Joshi

Swwapnil rose to fame after playing Krishna in Ramanand Sagar’s popular show of the same name. He earlier wrote his name as Swapnil Joshi but now there’s an extra ‘w’ in it. After starring in several popular shows, Swwapnil went on to rule the Marathi film industry. He currently works in Marathi serials and films as well.

Raqesh Bapat from Raqesh Vashisth

Raqesh Bapat was earlier known as Raqesh Vashisth. Reportedly, Vashisth is the actor’s original last name and he changed it on the request of his mother. The actor has done several hits shows like ‘Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak?’, ‘Qubool Hai’ and ‘Saath Phere’ to name a few. He was last seen in ‘Tu Ashiqui’.

Veebha Anand from Vibha Anand

Veebha Anand rose to fame for her portrayal of Sugna Shyam Singh in ‘Balika Vadhu’. While the real reason why the actress chose to change her name is not known yet but looks like it didn’t bring her much luck. The actress has been part of shows like ‘Mahabharat’ and ‘Begusarai’. She was last seen in &TV’s ‘Laal Ishq’.

While others add a new alphabet in their names, actress Vahbiz removed a letter from hers. She earlier used to spell her name as Vahbbiz Dorabjee. The actress had made her small screen debut with ‘Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani’. She was last seen in ‘Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant’.

Rohitashv Gaud from Rohitash Gaud

Popularly known for his roles in the sitcoms like ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!’ and ‘Lapataganj’. He has even starred in several films like ‘PK’, ‘3 Idiots’. The actor has added a ‘v’ in his initial name.

Ridheema Tiwari from Ridhima Tiwari

‘Sasural Genda Phool’ actress changed her name from Ridhima Tiwari to Ridheema Tiwari.  She apparently did so to save herself from an identity crisis and also because of numerology. The actress even made her Bollywood debut with Vidya Balan starrer ‘Begum Jaan’.
