Today is Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw’s birth anniversary. So, the makers of his biopic starring Vicky Kaushal have announced the title of the film. The biopic is directed by Raazi fame Meghna Gulzar and is finally titled Sam Bahadur. Vicky and Meghna shared the title announcement video on their social media handles.

“The man. The legend. The brave heart. Our Samबहादुर…On the birth anniversary of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw, his story has found its name. #SamBahadur,” Vicky wrote as he shared the video.

Vicky Kaushal’s first look as Sam Manekshaw was unveiled in 2019 and last year, his second look was released. He was praised for recreating the exact look of Sam. Since then, it has created excitement among Vicky’s fans and they are eagerly waiting for the movie to release. The biopic has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

In a statement, Vicky Kaushal said that he had always heard stories about Sam Bahadur from his parents but when he read the script he was completely blown away. “He is a hero and patriot who is still remembered and loved to this day and capturing his spirit in the film is of the highest importance to me,” said Vicky.

Meghna said that she is honoured to be telling Sam Manekshaw’s story with Ronnie Screwvala and Vicky Kaushal and she is happy that on the Field Marshal’s birth anniversary, the story got its name.

Sam Manekshaw or Sam Bahadur led Indian to victory against Pakistan in 1971. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. His military career spanned four decades in which he witnessed five wars.

Apart from Sam Bahadur, Vicky Kaushal will also be seen in the biopic on Sardar Udham Singh.
