The connection between Bollywood and underworld isn’t new. Actress Monica Bedi once was head over heels in love with underworld don Abu Salem. Mandakini, once a big-time sensation of silver screen, was rumoured to have an affair with Dawood Ibrahim. We could present you umpteen number of such examples. However, this time the dons seem to be miffed with showbiz!
Director Vishal Mishra’s ‘Coffee With D’ which features Sunil Grover in the titular role, was set for a release this month. But now, the release has been postponed.
The film revolves around a journalist who lands himself in trouble for being over-aggressive with guests at his show, resulting in a massive drop of TRP of his channel. Just when he is on the verge of firing him, he plans to recover the TRP by arranging a live interview with ‘D’ (referring to Dawood Ibrahim). The reference of the journalist’s character (named Arnab Ghosh in the film) has been taken from a very popular Indian journalist, known to go overboard with his aggression and ridicule himself.
Upon receiving threat calls from Chota Shakeel’s men, the director along with producer Vinod Ramani lodged police complaint and asked Delhi Police to take necessary actions.
“From the time of the release of the trailer, it hasn’t been quite easy. We are being hopeful and taking each day as it comes. As of now, the release has been postponed,” Mishra said.
‘Coffee With D’ also stars Anjana Sukhani, Dipannita Sharma, Zakir Hussain and Pankaj Tripathi.
