Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in Haider

Ever since the situation in Kashmir has become better, Bollywood has started shooting out there.  Large part of the movie ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ was shot here and now Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Haider’ is currently being shot there. The movie is an adaption of Shakespearean tragedy Hamlet and is set in Kashmir valley.

While Vishal Bhardwaj was shooting for Haider he had to stop the shoot inside the Kashimir University at Hazratbal following protests by students of the campus.

“The film crew, which has been shooting for ‘Haider’ in Kashmir for the past nearly two weeks, had to pack up after the students living in the on-campus hostels objected to hoisting of the national tri-colour atop a make shift bunker yesterday,” official sources said.

They said police, deployed for security of the film crew, chased away the protesters but the shooting could not proceed further. Two students were briefly detained by police but were released later following intervention by the university authorities. Kashmir University Students Union, which has been banned by the varsity authorities, in a statement condemned the use of force against the students for protesting against the film crew.

“Students also objected to Irrfan, one of the actors, when he was spotted smoking inside the smoke free campus,” the union said.

Well we hope that Vishal comes up with a solution soon and the students co-operate with them again.
