Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to collaborate with Nagraj Manjule for his next after ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’. After his hit Marathi romantic drama ‘Sairaat’, the Big B starrer will be the acclaimed director’s first Bollywood film. The movie that is based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of slum soccer, will go on floor in Nagpur this November.


The movie has Amitabh Bachchan depicting the role of Vijay Barse, a retired sports teacher who weans street kids off a life of crime and drugs and redirects their talent to build a soccer team. The megastar will start shooting for the movie after the season finale of quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, and after the release of his upcoming film ‘Thugs Of Hindostan‘ that also stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. It will be a 70-80 days schedule, and Amitabh will shoot for 45 straight days in Nagpur.

Speaking about his upcoming directorial, Manjule said, “I chose the city of Nagpur because the story is based there. I wanted the look and feel to be as authentic as possible and Nagpur has its own unique charm, feel and locales, different from Mumbai and Pune. The language of the film would be best showcased in Nagpur hence I chose the lanes of that city.

He also opened up on working with Big B, and said that it is like a dream come true for him as the megastar has always been his favourite. He felt that Big B fits the role perfectly and will do justice to the character of Vijay Barse. He further added that since the rest of the cast of the sports drama are new, the combination of Big B with fresh talent will truly bear fruit.

‘Jhund’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, Savita Raj Hiremath, Manjule under the banner of T-Series Films, Taandav Films Entertainment Ltd, and Aatpat.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan also has ‘Brahmastra’ that features Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles.
