Abhishek Manmarziyan sikh grandmother

Abhishek Bachchan, who was last seen in Sajid-Farhad’s ‘Housefull 3’, is all set to return to the silver screen after a gap of two years with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Manmarziyaan’. Abhishek will be playing a Sikh character named Robbie in the film.

Amitabh Bachchan has played a Sikh character in ‘Major Saab’, so now with Abhishek playing one too, his father was extremely happy since their family has a strong Sikh connection. Yes, Big B’s mother was a Sikh.

Big B, who couldn’t contain his happiness had shared Abhishek’s look on Twitter a few days back alongside the caption, “AbhishekBachchan .. your Daadi, Teji Kaur Suri pre marriage .. your par Nana Khazan Singh Suri .. your par Naani Amar Kaur Sodhi .. & all related must feel great pride and love for you .. as do I ..”

Now talking about his dad’s happiness, Abhishek recently told IANS, “Yes, dad shared the picture of my turbaned look and he said that he felt proud. My Dadima (grandmother) was Sikh, so there is an emotional attachment to the whole thing. Though the first time when I wore the turban to get my look done for the shooting, I was more focused on my performance. But later when I saw the footage, I felt special. I think my Dadima would have been happy to see my as sardar on-screen.”

Also starring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, ‘Manmarziyaan’ is all set to hit the marquee on September 14, 2018.
