‘Mission Mangal’ is being touted as India’s first space movie that will focus on the women scientists whose picture went viral after the success of Mars Orbiter Mission. The film also features Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and Nimrat Kaur in pivotal roles. As per recent reports, Sharman Joshi and Nithya Menen too have been reportedly roped in for the film. Apparently, they will form a part of the core group who were the brain behind the success of the mission.

The makers are currently working on the final draft of the film and plan to meet the scientists who were heavily involved in the mission to get some insight on their experiences.

Akshay Kumar has confirmed the cast of the film with a tweet. He wrote, “Proud and excited to bring the story of India’s Mars Mission, #MissionMangal to you. Coincidentally the mission was launched on this very date, 5th Nov. 2013. Meet the team and do share your best wishes for our shubh mangal journey. Shoot begins soon 🙏🏻 @foxstarhindi”
