Actor Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that his movie ‘PadMan’ spreads the message of menstrual hygiene loud and clear throughout the country. The ‘PadMan’ challenge is already taking social media by storm.
Now, the actor is all set to host a special screening of the movie for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani. According to a source in Mid-Day, “Akshay met up with the PM yesterday. Today’s screening has been arranged for a specific reason. After the screening, Akshay will stress on how the film’s message needs to reach the larger population and will pitch the idea of making educational videos for Doordarshan.” (Also Read: Real and reel ‘PadMan’ promote the film in the capital. These short 2-minute videos will be directed by R Balki and in the videos, Akshay will talk at length about menstrual hygiene urging women in rural areas to use sanitary pads instead of cloth.

Also, Arunachalam Muruganantham, the social entrepreneur on whom the film is based will also be a part of the screening. He will discuss the luxury tax levied on sanitary pads and urge ministers to exempt GST on pads and make them free of cost or atleast at really cheap prices.
